Why Choose The Wilderness Project

Life should be enjoyable and worthwhile and we hope everyone who attends one of our courses be it a first aid training course, a bushcraft course, or a navigation course you will have fun and achieve goals.

We don’t take the countryside for granted and we minimise our impact on the environment wherever possible.

Our business is focused. We aim to deliver a few products well but don’t try to be all things to all people. If we can’t deliver a particular service you are looking for we’ll help you find someone who can.

Customer Care

We care about the product and service we provide. We tailor our courses to suit your needs and are always interested in ways of improving our business.

We don’t keep people in the dark. We like to communicate and you will be given all the information you need before a course starts.

Feedback is important to us and we regularly update what we do based on it.

Safety & Standards

All our hill and mountain walking instructors hold the Mountain Leaders Award as a minimum qualification. All our instructors are first aid trained and DBS checked.

We employ the services of a highly experienced outdoor professional as our Technical Advisor and a qualified doctor as our Medical Advisor.

We are a DofE Approved Activity Provider (AAP).

We hold an Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) Licence for Trekking (Hillwalking & Mountaineering).

Safety is taken seriously and we maintain comprehensive operating and emergency procedures. These are inspected by the Adventure Activity Licensing Service (AALS).

Our Public Liability insurance is for £5 million and our Employers’ Liability for £10 million.

We hold memberships of professional bodies such as The Institute for Outdoor Learning, Natural Mid Wales and the South Wales Outdoor Activity Providers Group.

Connect with the natural world as you build a fire, create shelters, carve wooden tools, forage for wild food, cook in the open and more, whilst enjoying the beautiful tranquility of mid Wales

These are courses will develop your confidence and expertise to safely enjoy walking in the hills and mountains of the UK.

Perfect for those working and playing in remote places, this 2-day course encompasses a mixture of theory and practical sessions along with scenarios taking place outdoors.
