This qualification will develop your knowledge, understanding and skills in delivering Emergency First Aid and complies with the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. It meets the requirements laid out by Estyn and Ofsted for nursery, schools and locations of young people.
Our First Aid courses are not just for those in the workplace, they are for anyone and everyone who values having the confidence to manage first aid incidents.
There is a small element of e-learning prior to the course to enable us to spend more time in scenarios during the training. We deliver our training in a fun and friendly atmosphere whilst providing as much realism as possible.

This qualification meets the requirements for Emergency First Aid at Work as outlined in the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982. It also meets the requirements laid out by ESTYN and Ofsted for Nursery, Schools and locations of young people.
The course encompasses a mixture of theoretical and practical sessions and is run in a friendly and relaxed environment.
Topics covered in this course:
- Introduction to first aid
- Role and responsibility of a paediatric first aider.
- Incident management and safety including Safeguarding
- Aims of first aid
- Primary survey
- Adult, child and infant resuscitation
- Using an AED
- Dealing with an unconscious casualty
- The recovery position
- Choking
- Asphyxia including
- Wound and bleeding
- Small cuts, graces, bruises, splinters and nosebleeds
- Eye injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Poisons inc. Bites and stings
- Shock – including hypovolaemic, nervous, anaphylaxis and septic
- Fractures, dislocations and muscle injuries
- Head injuries
- Medical issues – heart attacks, strokes, asthma, seizures, febrile convulsions, croup, sickle cell, hyperventilation, diabetes & meningitis
- Effects of heat and cold inc. hypothermia, frost bite, dehydration
- Dealing with embedded objects in nose and ear.
- Simple record keeping and first aid equipment

The FAIB quality managment system holds third party Certification via UKAS and operates under the standards required for ISO 9001 (2015).The FAIB are one of the founding members of the First Aid Quality Partnership (FAQP), a body that includes representation from HSE, the Resuscitation Council (UK), the Voluntary Aid Societies and from OFQUAL, SQA as well as Fire, Police and Ambulance.
